What is HapKiDo?
United HapKiDo teaches the Korean Martial Art of HapKiDo. HapKiDo includes a variety of arm and leg joint locks, weapon techniques, throw, kick, hit, and nerve pressure techniques. HapKiDo is outstandingly suitable for self-defense. It can be learned both by men and by women, regardless of their size or age.
Some things you will learn at United HapKiDo:
1. Techniques for empty hand vs. empty hand, empty hand vs. weapon, weapon vs. weapon.
2. A wide variety of kicks during your training ranging from beginner to advanced.
3. Self-defense techniques to defend against such things as punches, kicks, grabs, headlocks, grappling and more.
4. In HapKiDo you will also learn counter-techniques, pressure points, the HapKiDo cane, short-stick and a variety of other advanced techniques.
5. You will have the option to attend seminars that expose you to other HapKiDo skills such as stick-fighting, military techniques, and much more.
HapKiDo is good for all skill levels.
Everyone participates and everyone gets something out of their training.
Children's Curriculum
The children's class is geared specifically toward children, with an emphasis on building self-esteem and confidence. Our non-competitive approach to teaching promotes personal development rather than focusing on sport or competition. Our belief is that learning should be fun!

At some point in class your child will achieve something that he or she thought they couldn't do, thats just the beginning of you child new "i can" attitude. Your child's confidence will improve with each milestone he or she achieves in class and you'll see that new found confidence reveal itself in many more settings outside the school.

Grades
We often hear how the childrens' grades improve. While we can't take credit for making your child smarter, we attribute their improvement to discipline, attention, attitude and improved confidence.

United HapKiDo is located on Rt. 26 (Liberty Road) in Eldersburg. Eldersburg is about 20 miles from Columbia and Baltimore and about 12 miles from Westminster.
Directions from Rt.32
Travel on Route 32 to the intersection with Liberty Road (Route 26). Take Liberty Road eastbound, you will pass a Walmart on your left. Follow past Carrolltown Mall, on your right, McDonalds on your left. United Hapkido is on the left in the shopping center after the Food Lion, in the same lot as the Canopy and Dairy Queen.
Directions from Rt.70
Travel on Route 70 to exit #83 Marriottsville Road, bear right off the exit, follow Marriottsville until you cross a set a railroad tracks, make the 2nd left after you cross the tracks onto Marriottsville 2, follow to a 4 way stop sign, make a left onto Ridge Road. Follow Ridge Road past Carrolltown Mall to the light on Liberty Road (Route 26). Make a right at the light. United Hapkido is on the left in the shopping center after the Food Lion, in the same lot as the Canopy and Dairy Queen.
